Is biogenic matter related to sea ice distribution?
The organic carbon (OC) and biogenic silica (bSi) contents in the upper 5 cm of the seabed were investigated in more than 60 sediment cores from several regions along the continental shelf of the Weddell Sea and the northern Antarctic Peninsula to identify relationships to environmental variables such as sea ice distribution.
