Christmas also arrived to Polarstern! On the 24th we had a special dinner with salmon, wine and soft light acclimating our table. Everyone wore clothes that we usually do not see so the atmosphere was within the usual style on board, elegant and festive. At 19:00, the captain invited to the Blue Saloon where he gave a speech that accompanied another of the Chief Scientist. Then a chorus of scientists and members of the crew assembled for the occasion, sang Christmas carols and some liturgical songs that served as introduction to the reading of a funny story about statistics and physical causes for which the existence of Santa Claus is in doubt. This did not stop.
